The BMW X6 M Competition is not your typical SUV. It’s a sleek, powerful, and luxurious machine that combines electrification with performance to create a new benchmark in its segment. The 2023 model year brings many updates that make it even more responsive, agile, and advanced than before.
One of the most notable changes is introducing 48V mild hybrid technology, which enhances the already impressive V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. The electric motor adds up to 12 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque to the combustion engine, resulting in faster acceleration and smoother power delivery. The electric motor also helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions by recuperating energy during braking and coasting.
The V8 engine is a masterpiece of engineering, producing 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque that can propel the BMW X6 M Competition from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. The engine features two turbochargers with indirect charge air cooling located between the cylinder banks, High Precision Injection direct petrol injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing, and double VANOS continuously variable camshaft control. The engine cover has been redesigned with red graphic elements and a colored M logo, while an optional carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) cover adds a touch of sportiness.
The power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which has been upgraded for faster and smoother shifts. The transmission also features an integrated launch control function for optimal acceleration from a standstill. The driver can choose from three modes: Efficient, Sport, and Sport Plus, depending on their driving style and preferences.
The X6 M Competition also boasts an adaptive M suspension that can be adjusted electronically to suit different road conditions and driving situations. The suspension features active roll stabilization that reduces body roll during cornering and air suspension at the rear axle that maintains a constant ride height regardless of load. The driver can select from four modes: Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, and Adaptive.
