Why the Opel Astra Electric is the best hatchback for the future

Opel Astra Electric

The Opel Astra is one of the most iconic and popular hatchbacks in Europe, with a history that spans over four decades and eight generations. It has always been a reliable, practical, and affordable choice for millions of drivers who value quality, comfort, and performance. But times are changing, and so is the Astra. The latest generation of the Opel Astra introduces a new option for buyers who want to embrace the future of mobility: the Opel Astra Electric.

The Opel Astra Electric is not just another variant of the Opel Astra with a different powertrain. It is a completely redesigned and reengineered model that takes advantage of the latest technologies and innovations from Stellantis, the parent company of Opel. It is a hatchback that combines the best of both worlds: the style, space, and safety of the Astra and the efficiency, sustainability, and fun of an electric vehicle.

What makes the Opel Astra Electric so special?

The Opel Astra Electric is powered by a 54 kWh battery pack that delivers 154 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 9.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 106 mph. It can also travel up to 258 miles on a single charge, according to the WLTP cycle. And when it needs to be recharged, it can do so in just 30 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger.

But the Opel Astra Electric is not just about numbers. It is also about how it makes you feel behind the wheel. The electric motor provides instant and smooth acceleration, while the low center of gravity and the balanced weight distribution ensure agile and stable handling. The cabin is quiet and refined, thanks to the sound insulation and the absence of engine noise. The digital dashboard and the infotainment system offer a modern and intuitive interface, with wireless connectivity options and a wireless charging pad. The interior is spacious and comfortable, with high-quality materials and ergonomic seats. The boot is generous, with 422 liters of capacity in the hatchback version.

The Opel Astra Electric is also equipped with a range of advanced features that enhance its safety, convenience, and performance. Some of these features include:

  • Adaptive cruise control with stop & go function
  • Lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning
  • Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
  • A rearview camera with park assist
  • Head-up display
  • LED matrix headlights
  • Heated steering wheel and seats
  • Panoramic sunroof

How does the Opel Astra Electric compare to its rivals?

The Opel Astra Electric faces some tough competition in the electric hatchback segment, such as the Volkswagen ID.3, the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric, and the Tesla Model 3. However, it has some advantages that make it stand out from the crowd.

First of all, it has a more attractive and distinctive design than its rivals, thanks to its Vizor grille, its LED lighting signature, its black roof, and its C-pillar shape that pays homage to the Opel Kadett D. It also has a more premium and elegant interior than its competitors, with a minimalist and functional layout that avoids clutter and distraction.

Secondly, it has a more versatile and flexible powertrain than its rivals, as it offers three driving modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport. Normal mode provides a balanced performance for everyday driving, Eco mode optimizes efficiency and range for longer trips, and Sport mode boosts power and responsiveness for more fun and excitement.

Thirdly, it has a more loyal and satisfied customer base than its rivals, as it benefits from the reputation and trust that the Astra nameplate has built over the years. The Opel Astra Electric is not a new model that tries to convince buyers to switch from their conventional cars to electric vehicles. It is an evolution of an existing model that offers buyers an option to upgrade their cars to electric vehicles without sacrificing anything they love about their Astras.

Why should you buy an Opel Astra Electric?

The Opel Astra Electric is not only a great hatchback for today but also for tomorrow. It is a car that meets the current and future demands of drivers who want to reduce their environmental impact, save money on fuel and maintenance costs, enjoy a smooth and quiet ride, access smart features and services, and have fun on the road.

The Opel Astra Electric is also a car that respects its heritage and legacy while embracing innovation and change. It is a car that stays true to its roots while adapting to new challenges and opportunities. It is a car that honors its past while shaping its future.

If you are looking for a hatchback that offers all these benefits and more, you should buy an Opel Astra Electric! @via Opel.
