The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Won the TopGear.com Car of the Year Award

Hyundai IONIQ 5 N

Hyundai has just announced its latest electric vehicle, the IONIQ 5 N, as the winner of the 2023 TopGear.com Car of the Year award. The IONIQ 5 N is a high-performance version of the IONIQ 5, a spacious and futuristic crossover that offers a range of up to 480 miles on a single charge. But what makes the IONIQ 5 N stand out is its ability to deliver exhilarating driving dynamics without compromising on practicality and comfort.

What is the IONIQ 5 N?

The IONIQ 5 N is based on the same platform as the Kia EV6 GT but with Hyundai’s own tuning and engineering. It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that produces a combined output of 601 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque. However, thanks to an optional feature called N Grin Boost, which temporarily increases the power output to 641 horsepower and 639 lb-ft of torque for a short period of time, the IONIQ 5 N can unleash its full potential on any road.

The IONIQ 5 N also boasts impressive handling and braking capabilities thanks to its adaptive suspension, Brembo brakes, carbon-ceramic discs, and four-wheel steering. The car can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just three seconds and reach a top speed of over 155 mph. It also has a sporty exterior design with large air intakes, quad exhaust tips, red accents, and a rear spoiler.

What are the features and specifications of the IONIQ 5 N?

The IONIQ 5 N comes with a range of features that make it both fun to drive and comfortable to live in. Some of these features include:

  • A digital cockpit with a dual-screen setup that displays various information such as speed, battery level, navigation, media, and driver assistance systems.
  • A head-up display that projects key data onto the windshield.
  • A wireless phone charger that can charge compatible devices without any cables.
  • A panoramic sunroof that lets in natural light and fresh air.
  • A Bose sound system with eight speakers and subwoofers.
  • A heated steering wheel with paddle shifters.
  • A leather-wrapped interior with contrast stitching and red accents.
  • A panoramic view monitor that shows what’s behind you when you’re reversing or parking.
  • A surround-view camera system that gives you a bird’s-eye view of your surroundings when you’re maneuvering in tight spaces.

The IONIQ 5 N also comes with various driver assistance systems that enhance safety and convenience. Some of these systems include:

  • Blind-spot collision avoidance assist
  • Lane keeping assist
  • Forward collision avoidance assist
  • Rear cross traffic collision avoidance assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane following assist
  • Driver attention warning

How much does the IONIQ 5 N cost?

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is expected to go on sale in the US in the first half of 2024, with a starting price of around $60,000. This is slightly more expensive than the base model of the IONIQ 5, which starts at $45,000, but still cheaper than some of its rivals, such as the Tesla Model Y Performance, which starts at $62,000, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, which starts at $65,000. On the other hand, the Volkswagen ID.4 Pro Performance is more affordable, starting at $45,000.

However, the IONIQ 5 N also offers more value for money, as it has a generous warranty and a free charging program. Hyundai also provides two years of free charging at Electrify America stations, which have over 600 locations across the US.

What are the benefits of driving the IONIQ 5 N?

The IONIQ 5 N is not only a thrilling and fun car to drive, but also a practical and eco-friendly one. Some of the benefits of driving the IONIQ 5 N are:

  • It can enhance your driving experience and comfort, as electric vehicles are quieter, smoother, and more responsive than gas-powered vehicles.
