Norway is known for its love of electric vehicles, but the Ford F-150 Lightning has taken that passion to a new level. The all-electric pickup truck has received more than 15,000 reservations in the Nordic country, making it the most popular EV launch ever.
According to Ford, the F-150 Lightning has surpassed the previous record holder, the Tesla Model 3, which had about 12,000 reservations in Norway before its launch in 2019. The F-150 Lightning also beats the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which had about 7000 reservations in Norway before its debut.
Ford says that Norway is the first European market where the F-150 Lightning will be available, starting in mid-2024. The company attributes the strong demand to the truck’s combination of performance, capability, technology, and affordability. The Ford F-150 Lightning starts at $39,974 in the U.S., but Ford has not announced pricing for Norway yet.
The F-150 Lightning is Ford’s first all-electric pickup truck, and it promises to deliver up to 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque, as well as a range of up to 300 miles on a single charge. The truck also features a spacious frunk, a power tailgate, a 15.5-inch touchscreen, and over-the-air updates. The electric pickup truck can also act as a mobile generator, providing up to 9.6 kW of power for various uses.
